As a music video producer, every project presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with an artist and bring their vision to life. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Cavalier, a talented hip-hop artist hailing from the vibrant cultural hubs of New York and New Orleans. Today marks the release of his latest record, “Different Type of Time,” and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have contributed visuals for the track “Manigaults.”

From the moment I heard Cavalier’s music, I knew there was something special about his artistry. His blend of lyrical prowess and raw authenticity resonated deeply with me, and I was eager to translate that energy into a compelling visual narrative. After Private Stock was released Cav and I became aware of each other through mutual connections and kept an online repor. Private Stock is an incredible, breakthrough record, and I encourage you to go listen to it now. Collaborating with an artist whose energies align with my own is a rare and rewarding experience.

Filmed on location in the historic streets of New Orleans, the “Manigaults” music video is a celebration of the unseen in the southern city. Because this was not produced in my home town, I traveled with a limited video production pack. I used my Sony A7sIII and Mavic Pro to create the visual, and edited it myself per usual.

But beyond the technical aspects of production, what truly made this project special was the sense of collaboration and camaraderie that permeated every step of the process. “Manigaults” music video was truly a labor of love.

As the world gets its first glimpse of “Manigaults” today, I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together. This project is more than just a music video – it’s a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and the universal language of music, and the privileges of participating in a subculture. I’m honored to have paired visuals to Cavalier’s music. Here’s to many more collaborations and timeless music from this rising star. Photos by Brandon Damon.
