Rap Round Robin was in town at the Marble Bar on Friday night. I really dig the events that this scene is putting on, and this format particularly was intriguing (plus they usually provide some food via vendor). The first rap round felt like a battle, with each group or performer upping the ante by raising the energy level with each song. The second round felt similar, but after that- the show had an energy of its own which was fun to see and actually made the show more interactive than any regular rap show. Bryan aka Mister, from the Detroit rap group Passalacqua was in the house, and I know he was a major organizer for this event. But is sounds like Height Keech was involved in the earlier Rap Round Robin formats, in the Baltimore Rap Scene and he was instrumental in brining this show to Detroit.. Also in the house that night rapping round the robin was HEIGHT KEECH, MRS. PAINTBRUSH, MISTER (Bryan), RED PILL, DETROIT CYDI & STRYFE and BARTER BOYS.
