One of my favorite memories in event coverage was shooting video for HouseShoes’ Listening Party and his album “Let It Go” in Detroit Michigan at the Shelter beneath Saint Andrews. Saint Andrews is a special place in Detroit, and one person who helped make it so significant was DJ HouseShoes, DJing there in the late ’90’s and early 2000’s, eventually becoming a major ambassador for Detroit hip hop and rap music- helping spread it around the world. Whenever he returns home to Detroit now- it’s a special treat as he has since moved to LA. Below is a highlight video of the listening party he hosted for his album “Let It Go”. Go buy this album if you have not yet. Its got all the homies on it; real Detroit rap. I remember this show going real late, like 3:00am late. Didn’t really matter as everyone was having a good time as the local-hometown-hip-hop-vibe ensued.
